Keep your students excited about their Read to Feed program by using Heifer’s free Read to Feed resource materials. Download each resource below or place an order for a hard copy by completing our online Read to Feed order form or calling 1.877.275.READ (7323).
Read to Feed Materials:
1. Read to Feed Leader’s Guide (Item #RTF001000) shares the quick and easy steps of implementing the Read to Feed program along with ideas and resources to keep your kids motivated to reach their goal.
2. Everyday Heroes DVD (Item #RTF004000). Show this video at the beginning of the Read to Feed program to get your students excited about helping others. Everyday Heroes illustrates Heifer’s longstanding success at improving the lives of children around the world by telling the stories of children in China, Rwanda and Peru and how their families have benefitted from the gift of Heifer animals. This DVD is included in each of the Global Education Resource Kits so if you already own a kit, you will not need to order this DVD. (one DVD per group)
3. Read to Feed Student Kit (Item #RTF002000) – Each kit includes enough materials for a classroom of 30 people. If you have leftover materials, please pass them on to others who may be interested in the program. Each kit includes:
a. Classroom Donation Form to complete and return to Heifer International at the end of your program.
b. Real Kids, Real Animals: Read to Feed Student’s Guide includes everything children need to share with their parents about the Read to Feed program, including: a letter to parents explaining the program, enrollment form to be returned to the leader, sponsor envelope to collect pledges and a Book List to track their progress. Real Kids, Real Animals also shares how animals can help families lift themselves out of poverty. Encourage the children to share this section with their parents and their sponsors pledging donations.
c. Bookmarks which can be given at the beginning of the program to remind the kids about their Read to Feed goal.
d. Stickers that can be used as reward incentives for reading. Encourage your kids to collect all six. You can give them out throughout the program or place them on the child’s Read to Feed certificate to receive them all at the end of the program.
e. Read to Feed Student Certificates to present to the children at the conclusion of your program.
f. Read to Feed Poster. Display this 17”x 22” poster to remind your children about their Read to Feed program.
