Hope for the Future Capital Campaign: Murphy Keller Education Center
Funded by Heifer's separate Hope for the Future Capital Campaign and a $3.5 million leadership gift from Polly Murphy and Christoph Keller Jr., the Murphy Keller Education Center is the second part of construction on the Richard C. and Gertrude Remmel Butler Campus of the Heifer International Center. Also included in phase two are a reconstructed wetlands project and a commons area for communal events.
In honor of Bill and Margaret Clark of Little Rock, the entrance to the Murphy Keller Building will feature The Heifer Story. This exhibit will introduce the estimated 60,000 visitors a year to the history, cornerstones, mission, and vision of Heifer International.
The Global Solutions Gallery gives students, teachers, and friends of Heifer International the opportunity to experience some of the creative solutions implemented by Heifer and other organizations in fields such as Health-Care, Education, Infrastructure, Fair Markets, and Sustainable Agriculture. Visitors will see that hunger and poverty can be ended and Heifer International has an important part to play in that mission.
Inspirational stories from around the world in the Hall of Success are encouraging reminders that people can change the world. In the Make a Difference Gallery, visitors will learn how they can continue the mission of Heifer International at school, work, or at home.
Like the Phoenix Award-winning Heifer International Headquarters, the Murphy Keller Education Center is designed as a sustainable and environmentally sensitive building.
Even the surrounding Wetlands and green Commons area will be examples of Heifer's mission to care for the earth.
More than half of the $13.5 million needed to complete Phase II and the Murphy Keller Education Center has already been raised! But we still need $6.5 million to finish. The successful completion of the Heifer International Center and the Murphy Keller Education Center is just one more step in educating all communities about what they can do to bring an end to hunger and poverty.
The development of the Heifer International Center began with the largest brown field clean-up in the state of Arkansas and construction of Heifer's "green" World Headquarters building. Built on the Gertrude Remmel & Richard Butler Campus, the headquarters building serves as an example and integrated model of sustainable construction.
You can be a part of this exciting opportunity and give to the Hope for the Future Capital Campaign.
