Training and Education
Self-reliance is built on training and education. Our programs promote girls’ education, emphasize adult literacy and provide numerous technical and nontechnical trainings for project groups and project partners.
Our training approach draws on the principles of adult learning and experiential education, meaning adults can help each other learn in an atmosphere of active involvement and participation. We also ensure that the context of the training is close to their tasks or jobs and taught with a real-world approach. Trainings include formal training sessions, as well as informal educational opportunities such as farm visits, demonstrations, and visits with model farmers and exchange visits.
All project groups receive the following core trainings:
- Participatory Self-Review and Planning (PSRP)
- Group management
- Gender sensitivity
- Improved animal management
- Values-Based Literacy Program
