Clean Water

Solving Thirst part of Solving Hunger

Drought and lack of access to clean water are harsh realities for many of the world's poor. Heifer works to provide these communities with drinkable water.

Fresh water is essential for living. We may take it for granted, but imagine what it would be like to turn your faucet and have nothing come out. Imagine having to trek for hours to fetch buckets of water, or having to find it filthy with dirt and waste.

Aquatic activities

Heifer International knows water makes the world go 'round; that's why several our large scale projects make improving families' access to clean water a key focus. We teach conservation techniques to our project partners to help them get the most from their water sources. We teach them smart ways to irrigate their crops, and help them install pumps to get their water faster, cheaper and easier.

You can find out more about how caring for the environment is crucial to ending hunger and poverty.
