Nabitanga Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society in Uganda has installed a new milk cooling tank. The 6,000 liter capacity tank was installed in June 2010 and is already operational serving hundreds of farmers in the area.
The dairy cooperative currently has a membership of 618 dairy farmers, with over 500 paid up shareholders .
The farmers, who have long been faced with fluctuating milk prices in a largely unstable market, are set to benefit from competitive market prices and other ad-on services that will be provided through the dairy hub such as trainings and business development services.
Currently, the dairy plant has signed a contract with Sameer Agriculture and Livestock Development, one of the leading milk processing companies in the country.
