BEFORE 2005, life was a constant struggle for the Mugala family. Linus and Leston were unsure what was in store for their youngest child, five-month-old Mischeck. They did not want him to suffer the effects of the malnutrition that had plagued his older siblings before their family became a part of Heifer.

AFTER receiving livestock and training from Heifer International, the Mugalas now have plenty to eat. Their growing herd of cattle produce enough milk to sell at a fair price. They are able to provide a solid future for Mischeck, now five years old, and their all their children.

The Mugalas have been Heifer project participants since 2008.
In eight years, the Mugala family reinvested the profits of their milk sales to expand their farm, which now includes cattle, pigs, chickens, fish, rice, corn and oranges.

This transformation was made possible by the generous support of donors like you. It all starts with the gift of livestock and training, so that families like the Mugalas can feed themselves and pay for school and medical care. They can achieve dignity and self-reliance, becoming free from hunger and poverty.

Help more families like the Mugalas change their lives and create brighter futures for their children this year.
