You Can Help A Family in Need Turn Despair Into Dreams
Alejandro and Ingri Nosa are small scale farmers who harvest cacao from Bolivia's "Chocolate Forest," which produces some of the world's best chocolate.
Before Heifer launched a groundbreaking chocolate project in their community, Alejandro and Ingri lived in extreme poverty. They struggled to turn their hard work into food for their children to eat and money to transform their future.
These are the same hardships felt by many families in Bolivia, where more than 40 percent of families live on less than $2 a day.
Though rich in natural resources, Bolivia is the poorest country in South America. In the rural countryside, 3 out of 4 people are trapped in poverty.
But, with your friendship and caring support, Heifer is now turning Alejandro and Ingri's despair into dreams!
Before we started our work with their villages in the Chocolate Forest in Bolivia, thousands of hardworking farming families lived in extreme poverty. They wanted the opportunity to give their children better lives free from hunger and worry.
With your support, Heifer has empowered almost 2,800 families to actively manage the wild cacao in the jungle through training and resource management with the welcome gifts of sheep and fish to supplement their income. These resilient families now yield larger cacao harvests and understand fair market pricing.
While these Bolivian families are well on their way to self-reliance, we still have a long way to go before our work is done around the world. Join Heifer in turning another family’s Despair into Dreams.
