Holdibona, Bhashopada, Bangladesh — Passing on the Gift ceremony. Donor group: Mitjamak Women Group (19 members all tribal). Receiver group: Protiva Nari Unnyan Group (19 members includes 8 muslims + 11 tribals). Local dialect “Chautal” in which the songs are sung. Women, both Hindu and Muslim, dance and sing arm in arm. Rare occasion for Muslim women to do this in public.

NGO / partner: Wave Foundation. Village: Holdibona, Bhashopada. Situation rationale: Majority of the community are tribal with a few Muslims and Hindu’s mixed in. 90% of the community lives in government land. there is a pressure to convert to Christianity or Hinduism. Almost all are agricultural labors. Child mortality is high and literacy is very low.
