It is wonderful to know that Heifer International is doing a good job helping people in many countries to become more self-sufficient. The title of this entry is somehow disturbing though. I would like to have more information on what the author means by “Haiti Residents Learn Resiliency.” The people of Haiti are and have been resilient always. Thank you in advance for some clarification on how they are now “[learning] Resiliency.”
Thanks for your comment, Marie. It is true that the people of Haiti are and always have been resilient; however, through Heifer’s REACH project, the families with whom we work are receiving training and other inputs that allow them to recover even more quickly from the natural disasters and other vulnerabilities. In this way, through these methods, the undeniably strong people of Haiti are being empowered with additional ways to bolster their resilience.
